The NRJ Music Awards will take place in Cannes on Jan. 22, 2011.

Beyoncé has never been shy about hitting the stage in stunning costumes. Her appearance has always been a mixture of showgirl sparkle and pop star razzle-dazzle. And her style is on full display in her new DVD concert special, “I Am … World Tour.”

Her mom and stylist, Tina Knowles, said that while the looks may seem a bit edgier than what fans have seen from the singer in the past, she thinks that her superstar daughter has always been ahead of the style curve.

“Well, the wonderful Thierry Mugler designed the costumes, and I actually worked on some of the dancers and the band, and it was just amazing to work with him because he is so creative,” Knowles told MTV News at a New York screening of the special. “So it’s just a result of her constantly evolving, but she’s been edgy. It’s funny for people to say she went more edgy, but she’s been wearing body suits and that type of thing.”

Hip Hop royalty were spotted in Auckland this afternoon. Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z enjoyed some time out in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour ahead of his performance alongside U2 at Mt Smart Stadium tonight. The pair enjoyed a meal together before discretely slipping out the restaurant’s back door, into a waiting black Audi. Security was watching over the American duo carefully.
A small number of disappointed fans were left waiting for their chance to meet the pop princess. Beyonce arrived in the country on Thursday morning. It is not known how long the pair intend to stay in New Zealand.

She may have shot down pregnancy rumors last month but that doesn’t mean Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, isn’t ready for her superstar daughter to join her sister Solange and give her a grandchild.

‘Of course I am [ready for her to have a baby],’ she told PEOPLE at the launch event for the Lorraine Schwartz “2BHAPPY” Jewelry Collection at LAVO in New York this week. ‘What grandmother isn’t? I can’t wait.’ And, Knowles adds, her daughter and husband Jay-Z have what it takes to be ‘great parents.’

‘They’re good people and they’re really positive and they’re talented and they’ve had a lot of practice with my grandson – their nephew,’ she says. ‘So I know they’re going to make great parents.’ Her daughter, especially, is ‘very caring and patient and loving,’ Tina says, ‘so I know she’ll be a great mom.’

Whenever Beyoncé and Jay-Z are ready to welcome their first child, they can always turn to Tina for parenting advice. As for raising her two daughters, she always tried ‘not [to] put pressure on them to be what you want them to be.’

And while her daughter has found massive success, there’s one thing she hasn’t quite conquered yet. ‘Cooking is the one thing she hasn’t gotten into,’ says Knowles. ‘She hasn’t mastered [it], but I’m sure she’ll be a good cook once she makes up her mind.’

How the power couple will be spending Thanksgiving?

‘They’re actually out of the country, so it’s going to be different, but it’ll be good,’ Knowles says. ‘They’re getting their own tradition – so we have to let go.’

Beyonce has arrived in New Zealand ahead of an appearance by husband Jay-Z at tonight’s U2 concert at Mt Smart Stadium. The singer flew into Auckland International Airport and left just after 8am via a side entrance.

Fan Sam Bellingham was lucky enough to get a photo with the pop sensation as she arrived. ‘I was the only one there when she came through the side door,’ Bellingham said.
