House of Dereon set to be launched in the UK
Posted on Thursday, July 28, 2011Comments (14)Join The Discussion

Beyoncé’s fashion line, House of Dereon, is set to be launched for the first time in London at Selfridges in September. It has been named after the singer’s grandmother, the late Agnez Dereon, who was born in Louisiana in 1924.

The look for the House of Dereon autumn/winter 2011 collection is inspired by their idea of a “city jungle” with leopard, snake and African rose prints, which blend “tribal cues with edgy silhouettes”, and prices start at around 80 pounds for a dress. “The combination of colours, exotic prints and silhouettes make for a cohesive collection with tremendous appeal,” the Telegraph quoted Tina Knowles as saying.

“Beyoncé and I are so proud of the line-up and we can’t wait to see the consumer’s response and how she makes it her own,” she stated.

Best Thing I Never Had part II

Beyoncé is filming an alternate version of her ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ music video and wants your help to make it happen! Queen B is a blushing bride in the wedding day-themed original video for her second ’4′ single, which is set to get a matrimonial makeover by way of fan submissions. Beyonce wants real photos and video footage from her fans’ own wedding days.

The original video also includes a fictional flashback of Bey with her deadbeat boyfriend at prom, so fans’ prom footage is also welcome – if you are so brave.

Fans can upload their wedding or prom video footage to YouTube and their photos to Flickr with the tag #BeyonceBestThing, through the August 12 deadline. The chosen submissions will appear on BeyonceOnline and Celebuzz and, of course, the upcoming ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ fan video!

Beyoncé claims fifth UK Radio Airplay chart number one

Beyoncé’s Run The World (Girls) peaked at number 40 on the radio airplay chart, but the follow-up from the 4 album, Best Thing I Never Had, jumps from number three to number one this week.

It is the star’s fifth number one on the chart, following Destiny’s Child releases Survivor, Bootylicious (both 2001), Lose My Breath (2004) and Crazy In Love – her 2003 collaboration with Jay-Z.

Best Thing I Never Had piled on 712 additional plays and nearly 13 million extra listeners last week to top the list with an audience of 71.58 million – the highest of any track for six weeks.
Eighteen plays on Radio 1 provided a top contribution of 18.18% to the track’s listenership but its top supporters were five stations in the Capital FM network, each of which provided 62 or 63 plays.

The track also rockets 7-1 on the TV airplay chart, with its promotional videoclip logging 634 plays last week, 117 more than the previous week and 71 more than new runner-up, She Makes Me Wanna by JLS feat. Dev. Its biggest supporters: Chart Show TV (80 plays), MTV Hits (73) and MTV Base (61).

Beyonce says Eastwood film makes her day
Posted on Friday, July 22, 2011Comments (51)Join The Discussion

Beyonce Knowles has had it all before turning 30, yet is still humbled by what she calls “the biggest opportunity of my life” — the lead role in Clint Eastwood’s remake of the film, “A Star Is Born.”

The singer and burgeoning actress, whose fourth solo album “4″ debuted at No. 1 on pop charts after its release in June, told Reuters she felt lucky to have landed the iconic role previously played by Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland.

Eastwood will helm the fourth remake of the story about rising singer and actress Esther Blodgett, and Beyonce fondly remembers being a young girl and watching previous versions of the movie with her mother.

“It’s when I became a fan of Barbra Streisand’s. And I then saw Judy Garland’s version of ‘A Star Is Born’ and I realized every 20 to 30 years a new star is born and a new talent represents that generation and era — so I didn’t think that I would ever get the opportunity to be the star,” she said.

    Beyoncé on Access Hollywood
Posted on Thursday, July 21, 2011Comments (32)Join The Discussion

Beyoncé got to wear her fantasy wedding gown while making the video for latest single, Best Thing I Never Had, after spotting the dress in a store window while travelling to last year’s Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Beyoncé was immediately enamoured by the Baracci Beverly Hills dress and called the LA boutique 12 months later when searching for a faultless fairytale wedding gown for her latest video.

She told Access Hollywood that she ‘saw it in the window…when I was at the Grammys’, adding that ‘it was just, like, a beautiful fantasy, so we called and they still had the dress…I felt like a queen (wearing it)’. However, the former Destiny’s Child singer admitted that filming a wedding-inspired video with her husband Jay-Z not present was more than a little ‘creepy’ for her.
